What is BIS hallmarking, and why does it matter?
A BIS hallmark is the Bureau of Indian Standards’ official certification that a gold article matches its declared purity. It protects your customers and your reputation — every hallmarked piece carries a mark that can be traced back to a verified assay record.
How long does the hallmarking process take?
Thanks to advanced laser systems and an optimized workflow, most jobs settle the same day — and never beyond 24 hours.
What technology is used for gold testing?
State-of-the-art computerized XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) — a non-destructive method that measures precious-metal purity with absolute precision and prints the result instantly.
Is XRF testing safe for delicate or stone-set jewellery?
Yes. XRF is completely non-destructive — no scraping, no filing, no acid. Delicate, hollow, antique-finish and stone-set articles are tested without any damage.
Melting, Refining & Exchange
Is there weight loss during old gold melting?
No. The entire melting sequence is transparent, well-documented and executed under strict digital weight parameters — weights are recorded on calibrated scales before and after, so what goes in is what’s accounted for.
Can we witness the melting of our own gold?
Yes — client-witnessed melting is available on request, and the standard process already runs under camera surveillance with digital weight records at every step.
How are gold exchange values calculated?
Every quote is built on a printed XRF purity report, not a guess. Deductions are shown in writing and the exchange is settled immediately, accounted to the last milligram.
Logistics & Working With Us
Do you collect items from our shop?
Yes — our dedicated, secure pickup & drop team collects consignments from your shop and returns them hallmarked, with weight statements verified at both ends.
Who can use Kalika's services?
We serve jewellery manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and trading organizations — from a single article to full trade consignments with scheduled pickup routes.
What documentation do we receive?
Job-wise documentation with verification support, accurate weight and process records at every step, and detailed monthly work statements for error-free auditing.
Where are you located, and what are your hours?
We’re in Burrabazar, Kolkata, West Bengal — open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
